O Taste and See
A Congregational Meditation
Psalm 34:1-8
October 28, 2018
For the past 3 weeks we have wrestled with the Book of Job and pondered with Job the experience of a distant or absent God. We know that God was not absent but it sure felt that way to Job and sometimes it sure feels that way to us. Today our Scripture text celebrates the presence of God in vibrant, tangible ways through hearing, seeing, and taste. It sings of the psalmist’s experience of God’s providence and care. So this morning we are going to use our bodies and all of our senses to experience God with us. Around the sanctuary are 5 stations, each set up for a different sense. [point out each one] We will take about 15-20 minutes for us to move to and experience each station and then we will reconvene in our pews to share with each other what we have discovered. If leaving your pew is difficult for you, let me know and I can bring aspects of each station to you.
I now invite you to come; taste and see and hear and smell and touch that the LORD is good.

As you move through the world, pay attention to what you experience and know that God is in all and through all and with us all. May what we experienced today be a blessing, to us, to God, and to the world. Amen.
